Intimate partner violence is a pervasive phenomenon, recognized by organizations like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization as a significant public health and human rights issue. In the U.S. alone, it is thought that at least 40% of individuals will experience intimate partner violence at some point in their lives. In light of the gravity of this issue, my research focuses on (1) potential causes of IPV; (2) consequences of IPV; and (3) how and why violent relationships are maintained.
